The Hawk Epoxy System

Hawk Epoxy is a multipurpose, marine-grade two-part resin system that bonds and coats fiberglass, carbon fiber, wood, metals, fabrics and other materials to provide enhanced strength, moisture-resistance, durability and longevity. Construction and repair professionals, DIYers and artists alike can adjust the Hawk Epoxy system components to meet virtually any specific application requirement in strength, constancy and dry-time by simply combining the appropriate catalyst agents and fillers with the base resin. Boat building and repair; surfboard construction and repair; aircraft, drone and automotive construction and repair; furniture making; concrete repair and creating works of art has never been easier.

IMPORTANT: For optimal product utilization, be sure to choose the same Size for both the Base Resin and Catalyst. For example, if you choose Size 1 for the Hawk Epoxy Base Resin, also choose the Size 1 for the Catalyst. Mix ratios of Base Resin to Catalyst vary depending on which catalyst is being used. EPOXY BASE RESIN

R1 Epoxy Resin is the base of the Hawk Epoxy System. It is a premium quality, low-odor, clear liquid that hardens to a high strength solid when combined with one of four Hawk Epoxy Catalysts with each formulated to accommodate specific cure-times or applications. Once the R1 Epoxy Resin is combined with a Hawk Epoxy Catalyst, Hawk Epoxy Fillers can be blended into the mixture to create one of 28 unique epoxy blends that will accommodate virtually any project. For more information regarding which catalyst and/or filler to use see our Epoxy Catalyst and Filler Guide.

R1 Epoxy Resin comes in three different sized containers: Size 1 is 1 Quart, Size 2 is 1 Gallon, Size 3 is 4.35 Gallons. To simplify mixing, Hawk Epoxy Catalysts also come in three different sized containers, each filled to accommodate its matching R1 Epoxy Resin size. For optimal epoxy utilization, be sure to choose the same size for both the Hawk Epoxy Resin and Hawk Epoxy Catalyst, i,e,. Size 2 R1 Resin with a Size 2 Catalyst. While Hawk Epoxy Fillers also come in a variety of sizes, it is not necessary to choose the same size filler as the resin and catalyst combination.

CATALYSTS

The Hawk Epoxy System is formulated to address a wide variety of construction and repair scenarios. To facilitate them, four application-specific Epoxy Catalysts are available. Each Hawk Epoxy Catalyst is formulated to blend with and harden the R1 Epoxy Resin which tailors the mixture for particular uses depending on desired time of cure, ambient temperature during application and the type of finish wanted.

C1 Ultra Slow Catalyst is used to harden R1 Epoxy Resin for barrier coating, fabric application and general bonding purposes when used in higher ambient temperatures (70º or higher) or when slower cure time is required at room temperature. It's Pot Life at room temperature, when mixed in 4 ounce batches, is approximately 40 - 50 minutes. Its Cure Time at room temperature is approximately 20 - 24 hours. Pot Life and Cure Time is lengthened when ambient temperature is below room temperature and accelerated when ambient temperature is above room temperature.

C2 Slow Cure Catalyst is used to harden R1 Epoxy Resin for barrier coating, fabric application and general bonding purposes when used in normal ambient temperatures (60º or higher). It's Pot Life at room temperature, when mixed in 6 ounce batches, is approximately 20 - 25 minutes. Its Cure Time at room temperature  is approximately 10 - 15 hours. Pot Life and Cure Time is lengthened when ambient temperature is below room temperature and accelerated when ambient temperature is above room temperature.

C3 Fast Cure Catalyst is used to harden R1 Epoxy Resin for barrier coating, fabric application and general bonding purposes when used in cooler ambient temperatures (40º or higher) or when accelerated cure time is required at room temperature. It's Pot Life at room temperature, when mixed in 6 ounce batches, is approximately 9 - 12 minutes. Its Cure Time at room temperature  is approximately 6 - 8 hours. Pot Life and Cure Time is lengthened when ambient temperature is below room temperature and accelerated when ambient temperature is above room temperature.

C5 Clear Finish Catalyst is used to harden R1 Epoxy Resin for clear-coating and waterproofing fiberglass, wood and textiles with virtually zero-blush. It's Pot Life at room temperature, when mixed in 4 ounce batches, is approximately 22 - 27 minutes. Its Cure Time at room temperature  is approximately 12 - 18 hours. Pot Life and Cure Time is lengthened when ambient temperature is below room temperature and accelerated when ambient temperature is above room temperature.

*Note: Hawk Epoxy cures faster in thicker applications or when mixed in larger batches.

FILLERS

F1 High Load Adhesive Fiber Filler thickens to a light grey color creating an easy to use adhesive designed for bonding hardware and other applications with dissimilar materials.  This mixture will maximize bond strength for anticipated high loads.

F2 Structural Adhesive Filler thickens to an off white color creating a general purpose thickening additive for bonding, gap filling and filleting. Mix to a workable consistency allowing sag free and easy flow properties for vertical and overhead applications.

F3 Light Density Adhesive Micro Fiber Filler thickens to an off white color, great for bonding many substrates, especially wood. The mixture also creates a multipurpose adhesive for many other substrates in addition to providing excellent substrate wetting and penetrating characteristics. Increases impact and abrasion resistance.

F4 Bridging Adhesive Filler thickens to a brown color creating an easy to use adhesive with excellent gap filling and filleting qualities.  This mixture blends with many different types of wood to allow for a natural looking fillet or gap fill.

F5 Light Density Fairing Filler thickens to a reddish brown color achieving an easy to sand and carve fairing compound while still remaining strong and light weight.

F6 MicroSphere Fairing Filler thickens to a white lightweight fairing compound for small to large areas. This closed celled structure can also be used for increased acoustic and thermal insulation.

PUMP KITS (for accurate easy measuring)

Hawk Epoxy 30-KT Pump Kit (for Size 1 and 2 Resin and Catalysts) provides easy and precise mixing of Hawk Epoxy Resin and Catalysts. They attach directly to the resin and catalyst containers and are calibrated to yield the proper mix ratio with one full pump stroke for both the resin and the catalyst.

Hawk Epoxy 30-KT-S3 Pump Kit (for Size 3 Resin and Catalysts) provides easy and precise mixing of Hawk Epoxy Resin and Catalysts. They attach directly to the resin and catalyst containers and are calibrated to yield the proper mix ratio with one full pump stroke for both the resin and the catalyst.

KLEAR KOTE TABLE TOP RESIN

Sea Hawk Klear Kote Table Top Resin is a marine-grade, two-part epoxy system specifically for coating table tops, furniture and works of art that cures to a clear, glass-like surface which resists moisture, scratching and yellowing. Its unique formula, when applied in a thin film, flows and self-levels to yield a smooth, ripple-free plastic solid coating without blushing or distorting over time.
